Falando sobre o tempo

Para falar sobre o tempo, usamos o pronome "it"

Abaixo seguem alguns adjetivos que acabam com "y" para falar sobre o tempo no presente momento:

Sunny: ensolarado
Stuffy ou muggy: abafado
Dusty: Empoeirado
Foggy: Nebuloso (com neblina)
Hazy: Nebuloso (com neblina)
Windy: Ventoso (com vento)
Blustery: Ventoso (com ventos fortes)
Breezy: Ventando levemente (agradável)
Cloudy: Nublado
Rainy: Chuvoso
Showery: Chuvoso (chuva que dura menos = pancadas de chuva)
Chilly: Friozinho
Snowy: Está nevoso (coberto de neve)
Frosty: Muito gelado
Icy: Gelado

Alguns adjetivos que descrevem bem os dias de verão são:

Bright: Claro; iluminado (pelo sol)
Warm: Aquecido (agradável)
Hot: Quente
Sweltering: Extremamente quente
Boiling (hot): Calor escaldante
Scorching: Calor escaldante (insuportável)

Antes de adjetivos você pode adicionar algumas palavras antes deles para dar ênfase, como: very, so, really, extremely, a little, a bit, a little bit.

Outra forma de dizer como o tempo está é usando esta estrutura abaixo:

It's + V (ing)

It's raining: Está chovendo
It's snowing: Está nevando
It's drizzling: Está garoando
It's hailing: Está chovendo granizo
It's pouring: Está caindo um pé-d'água

What's the weather like? (Como o tempo está?)
What's the weather like today? (Como o tempo está hoje?)
How's the weather? (Como está o tempo?)
What's the weather like today over there? (Como o tempo está hoje por aí?)
What's the weather like today in your city? (Como o tempo está hoje em sua cidade?)


Use adjetivos gerais para falar sobre o tempo, se preferir, como: good, great, nice, pleasant, unpleasant, awful, etc.

It's nice outside/out today
It's not nice out
It's pleasant
It's unpleasant today
It's awful
The weather is good today

Se quiser puxar uma conversa com alguém, elabore frases como:
Chilly weather, isn't it? (Está um friozinho, não está?)
It's a beautiful day, right? (Está um dia lindo, não é?)

What's the weather forecast? (Qual é a previsão do tempo?)

The Weather Forecast = Previsão do Tempo

The weather forecast said it'll be a sunny afternoon.
(A previsão do tempo disse que será uma tarde ensolarada).

The forecast said it'll be a chilly morning.
(A previsão do tempo disse que será uma manhã fria)

I heard it's going to be (gonna be) a little warmer tomorrow.
(Eu ouvi que vai estará mais quente amanhã)
I heard it's going to be (gonna be) a sunny day tomorrow.
(Eu ouvi que será um dia ensolarado amanhã)


Se você estiver a fim de advinhar como o tempo estará em breve, você usa a construção: "Parece que..." = It looks like....

What's the weather going to be like on Monday? (Como o tempo estará na segunda?)

It looks like it's going to rain ou It looks like it's gonna rain.
(Parece que vai chover)
It looks like it's gonna be a sunny day.

I think it's gonna rain.
(Eu acho que vai chover)


Para falar de mudanças de tempo, como por exemplo: "Está ficando frio", dizemos: The weather is turning/getting colder ou It's getting colder.

The weather is turning/getting horrible: (O tempo está ficando horrível)
The weather is turning bad: (O tempo está fechando)

clear up: melhorar ou limpar

It's supposed to clear up tonight (É para limpar o tempo hoje à noite)
The weather cleared up early in the afternoon (O tempo limpou no início da tarde)
